The use of feature tracking to assess ventricular strain during exercise stress CMR

چکیده
Background Exercise stress testing is the most physiological method of inducing myocardial stress, but its application to clinical and scientific CMR has been limited because of problems arising from cardiac and respiratory motion during stress. Under pharmacological stress, left ventricular strain measurement abnormalities by CMR have been demonstrated to be earlier and more sensitive markers of contractile dysfunction than global left ventricular ejection fraction or development of regional wall motion abnormalities alone. There are several validated methods of measuring myocardial strain. A recently proposed method is feature tracking (FT), which has advantages over other methods in having shorter acquisition and analysis times and not requiring additional scanning as the features are tracked from the clinically standard cine steady-state free precession (SSFP) sequences. This offers a potential method to assess myocardial strain during exercise stress.

Left ventricular strain during exercise stress: a CMR myocardial feature tracking study
Background Abnormalities in left ventricular (LV) strain as detected during pharmacological or physiological exercise stress have been demonstrated to be earlier and more sensitive markers of contractile dysfunction than global ejection fraction. Recent developments allow for in-scanner exercise using MR-compatible ergometers. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze LV strain with...
متن کاملCardiovascular magnetic resonance myocardial feature tracking detects quantitative wall motion during dobutamine stress
BACKGROUND Dobutamine stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance (DS-CMR) is an established tool to assess hibernating myocardium and ischemia. Analysis is typically based on visual assessment with considerable operator dependency. CMR myocardial feature tracking (CMR-FT) is a recently introduced technique for tissue voxel motion tracking on standard steady-state free precession (SSFP) images to ...
متن کاملPhysiological changes in regional and global left-ventricular strain during exercise - a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging study using tagging and feature tracking in healthy volunteers
Background Techniques for the evaluation of regionaland global left-ventricular strain parameters are emerging in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging. Some of these techniques require dedicated CMR sequences at the time of the imaging examination, others are based on post-processing of routine imaging. Little is known about normal values and range of these parameters, assessed by CMR. More...
متن کاملQuantification of biventricular myocardial function using cardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking, endocardial border delineation and echocardiographic speckle tracking in patients with repaired tetralogy of fallot and healthy controls
BACKGROUND Parameters of myocardial deformation have been suggested to be superior to conventional measures of ventricular function in patients with tetralogy of Fallot (ToF), but have required non-routine, tagged cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques. We assessed biventricular myocardial function using CMR cine-based feature tracking (FT) and compared it to speckle tracking echoca...
متن کاملRight Ventricular Strain and Dyssynchrony Assessment in Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy: Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Feature-Tracking Study.
BACKGROUND Analysis of right ventricular (RV) regional dysfunction by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in arrhythmogenic RV cardiomyopathy (ARVC) may be inadequate because of the complex contraction pattern of the RV. Aim of this study was to determine the use of RV strain and dyssynchrony assessment in ARVC using feature-tracking CMR analysis. METHODS AND RESULTS Thirty-two consecuti...
